John Nolan – 9 of Hearts
Why did you want to take part in this fundraising initiative?
After leaving my studio, art can play a much bigger role.
I have donated my work to many charity auctions. It gives me a wonderful sense of contributing when my art creates money for a greater cause. Art can impact in many ways aside from hanging on a wall, it is astonishing to think that in some cases my art could save a life.
Can you tell us about your artwork? What inspiration did you draw on to create your design?
I celebrate colour in my abstract, contemporary and Pop Art styles. I chose Pop Art as the style for my “9 of Hearts Card” as I wanted to simplify the image and increase the visual strength through colour.
Art produces the happy hormone when it is viewed, so hopefully my piece will have the same effect.
What is it about the charity Transplant Links that made you want to support them?
I always try to be involved in health care art related projects. The facts are established that art is hugely beneficial in therapeutic and health care recovery programmes. Transplant links is another way for me to contribute in this area. The volunteers in Transplant Links should be lauded, hopefully my creation will help in some small way, long may they continue.
